MicFlip – For many years we’ve been struggling with the USB ports however we never even thought about it as an option. The idea came to us when we saw the Type-C, then we realized that we can do it. Guess all we had to do for many years was to imagine we can do it 🙂

As for today 99% of the smartphones , bluetooth speakers, power banks, bluetooth earphones and more devices are using the standard Micro USB port and we still have years till the Type-C will be our standard. Till then we can make your life much easier by using the MicFlip cable.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Ian, I was logistics and distribution manager for over 10 years in several companies from different sectors (medicine, cosmetics, security and more).

Today I run WinnerGear, for long time I wanted to do something of my own and making accessories for one of the most important items in our life seems like a great idea.

Ian Britt

making accessories for one of the most important items in our life seems like a great idea!

What does a typical day in your life look like?
Get up at : 6 AM
Breakfast & gym till 8 AM
At 9AM I’m in the office starting to go over Emails and handle orders.Usually around 12 we have a short meeting with our creative marketers (some will call them growth hackers) about our next steps. The rest of the day I’m working with the designers about our next products and trying to catch up with the latest developments in the mobile accessories market.Finish my working day at 5 PM and back to my family!

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you
My true love : surfing and snowboarding
How did you come up with the idea for your product and what made you “go for it”
As soon we saw Type-C and we all own Micro USB devices we immediately realized what we are going to do.

What is the best decision you’ve ever made with your product (financial, emotional, educational) that led to the product we’re experiencing today?

The best decision was to add all the features such as gold plugs, braided cable, aluminum shell, rubber protection.

We didn’t want to deliver a new idea of reversible micro USB plug and take away from our customers the good things they had with their previous cables, so we took every feature that people liked so far and just improved it with our reversible plug .

Where do you see your company or your company’s focus in 1-2 years?
Working 24/7 to try and deliver our own standalone device.
If you could time travel back to day one of your start-up and have 15min with your former self to communicate any lessons you’ve acquired with the intention of saving yourself mistakes and heartache, what would you tell yourself?
Now that I know the MicFlip is a huge success the only thing I will change will be skipping the crowdfunding, and immediately start manufacturing so we can deliver the product earlier to our customers.

Ian Britt

Technology is moving so fast that we need a whole department just to track what’s new in market.

Who has been the biggest influence on your life and work and why?
James Dyson – Seems like all he care about is making the best products , and that’s the way it should be.
Any tips for aspiring entrepreneurs on how to facilitate a successful financing campaign?

– Set goals

– Track your performance day and night

– Do whatever it takes to reach your goal , using the internet there is always a way

What do you see as the biggest advancement in your technology sector over the next 5-10 years?
Wearable technology – I think someone is going to crack the code and find a way to make us wear the technology (unlike the failed google attempt).
What do you see as the biggest risk in your technology sector over the next 5-10 years?

Technology is moving so fast that we need a whole department just to track what’s new in market, that’s the biggest risk in this market .

You can start working on a new product that seems to be the latest tech however till you’re half way it’s history already.

Thank you for your time Ian!
