CODE_n: A Preview of the new.New Festival
new.New Festival – So New, They Named It Twice
The curiously capitalised CODE_n new.New Festival is coming up! It’s the fifth iteration of this annual gathering to explore how digital technologies are affecting, revamping, and energising various industries, and it’s the largest one to date.
CODE_n is scheduled to take place on September 20-22 in Karlsruhe, Germany at the ZKM Centre for Art and Media.
The Festival will bring together tech professionals from around the world, from the big movers and shakers, to the newbies looking to push the frontier of digital technology, to the academics who frame these developments in larger contexts.
There will be a full schedule of speakers and sessions, various networking events where attendees can meet in an atmosphere that promotes synergy, and an innovators’ exhibit hall.
Plus, CODE_n attendees will be able to check out an exhibition of innovative, avant-garde digital art. It promises to be an exciting, informative, and instructive three days in Germany.
An Impressive Lineup
A big aspect of the new.New Festival is the CODE_n16 Startup Contest for “Unveiling the Digital Disruption,” the winner of which will receive the CODE_n Award, lots of prestige, and a cool €30,000 in cash.
Fifty-two finalists have already been chosen out of nearly 400 companies from around the world, and they all have a business idea that can potentially, to use the language from the Festival’s site, “drive forward digital transformation in whole industries.”
Finalists work in one of four main categories:
and during the Festival, they’ll all be on hand to share their work with attendees.
Of course, there is a full lineup of speakers. Festival attendees can hear talks by many knowledgeable and insightful individuals, including:
- Neuroscientist Dr. Henning Beck
- Professor Ulrich Weinberg, director of the Hasso-Plattner-Institut School of Design Thinking
- Ulrich Dietz and Marika Lulay, CEO and COO, respectively, of GFT Technologies
Talks, workshops, pitches, and presentations will take place across six stages: a main stage, an innovation stage, and four side stages.
