Buy new Chromecast before Jan. 2 to get $20 in free Google Play Credit

If you are yet to get the new Chromecast that was announced on September 29, 2015, Google has made it easier to take the next step. The company recently announced that new buyers of its streaming HDMI dongle will be receiving $20 in free Google Play credit until 2nd January,2016.

Although the credit offer is being promoted as an opportunity to purchase music, TV shows, movies, and apps that users can stream from their smartphone to their big screen TV, you can also use the credit to buy ebooks, magazines, and basically anything else available from the Google Play Store.

More about the new Chromecast

Following its debut in July 2013, Chromecast quickly became one of the most successful physical Google products ever. It is not only inexpensive, but also easy to use and compatible with all Android and iOS devices.

On September 29, 2015, the company announced the new Chromecast design, featuring an in-built HDMI cable available in coral, black, and lemonade variants. The new Chromecast offers superior performance to the previous version as it can support both 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. The new version also comes with a Chromecast Audio device for audio streaming to any 3.5 mm-capable speakers, as well as support for Sling TV, Showtime, Spotify, and a number of apps from the NHL, NBA, etc.

Google had previously run another promotion where users could buy two Chromecasts for $55, saving them $15. This, combined with the credit offer, is certainly a great deal.
