The first Oculus Rift VR Headsets start shipping
According to a tweet by Brandan Iribe, Oculus VR chief executive, the first Oculus Rift VR headsets have shipped and should start arriving on launch day on March 28th.
History of the Oculus Rift VR Headsets
It has been four years since the Oculus Rift virtual reality Kickstarter campaign raised $10 million from backers in 2012. The long wait is finally over as Rift headsets will start landing in the hands of their pre-orders and backers on Monday.
The Oculus Rift has been mentioned in the media for so long that it can be hard for some to think of it as a new piece of technology. The entire development of the Rift has been in the public eye, starting with the developer preview during their crowdfunding.
Since then, the company has been through multiple generations of hardware, watched numerous mishaps, all to get to this point. What you get is an advanced and refined design: customisable, adaptable, comfortable, beautiful, and truly remarkable.
According to a tweet by Palmer Luckey, founder of Oculus VR, the first shipments will be made to those who pre-ordered. Other people will have to wait until July this year to receive their Rift headsets if they place their orders today. In the meantime, you can join the growing community of Rift users from across the globe.
