Pavlock

Pavlok is a shocking new wearable…literally

There are now a multitude of wearable fitness trackers out there, which can make it hard for newer products to get noticed. Pavlock, however, is one such wristband that that did manage to grab our attention as it’s not simply a health and fitness tracker but a habit changer that will literally shock you into changing your behaviour. Think of a Fitbit or Up24 with teeth and an attitude (as close to literally as the designer could manage).

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Breaking bad habits with Pavlok

PavlockWhilst Pavlock looks similar in style to many other app-enabled fitness bands with its rubber loop and simple led indicators; what is inside sets it apart from the competition – a static shock circuit that can deliver a 340V jolt of classical conditioning to help you form better habits. So when your your alarm goes off in the morning and Pavlock is on your wrist, you can decide the night before how many times you’ll be able to hit snooze before your unwillingness to get out of bed is punished with a a shock to the system.

Your mobile gym partner

As with most connected products hitting the market these days; Pavlock also incorporates a social aspect that holds you accountable to your Facebook friends. Say, you set yourself a goal of 10,000 steps but have slacked off…not only will your friends be able to see, they can also hit the shock button.

In a new market that has become saturated with options in a relatively short amount of time, Pavlock could capture the imagination of those who need more of a push than simple tracking and self-awareness.
