Jumpy: Smart Watch for Kids
More Than A Screen
Since the beginning of time, kids have wanted to emulate their parents. But in today’s world of smart devices, we have to step back and wonder if kids spending so much time staring at and quietly tapping an interactive screen a is such a great idea. The connectivity and convenience are certainly nice, but shouldn’t kids be more active? Shouldn’t they be learning about the world around them? Many parents don’t want to keep their kids from using the latest technology, but when is enough enough? Maybe we just need a smart device designed exclusively for kids. Maybe we need something like Jumpy.
Billed as the world’s first edutainment smart watch for kids, Jumpy isn’t just another screen — it’s an advanced tool for kids, and it encourages movement, learning, creativity, and so much more.
Jumpy – So Many Uses
Jumpy has an intuitive interface which, when paired with kids’ fearlessness at trying new technology, makes it incredibly easy to learn and use. It has Bluetooth connectivity, so it can work with iOS and Android devices, as well as Bluetooth-enabled toys like Sphero. Almost all of the built-in apps are educational in nature, and thanks to Jumpy’s built-in motion sensor, many apps encourage movement.
Jumpy also has messaging capabilities so kids can stay connected to their loved ones at all times. And, because entertainment is so important to kids, Jumpy can be used as a gaming device, a gaming control, and even as a supplemental device with certain tablet apps; for example, on an anatomy app, moving a Jumpy over the tablet screen works as an x-ray.
Designed for Kids
Kids can be hard on technology and toys, but Jumpy comes built for everything kids can throw at it. The 1.6-inch touch screen is highly durable, and it can even be popped out of one colour band and snapped into another. The device is currently wrapping up a Kickstarter campaign that looks like it will be a success, and the first units are expected to ship in late spring of 2015.
